Hi Folks!
So far all the recording on my VF160 has been through my condenser mic using the VF's phantom power, multitracking myself to build up instruments (so lonely...). After reading on here about worthy accessories I splashed out on an Art Tube MP Studio V3, which I picked up for the princely sum of £50! I've been trawling the forums for tips on how to use it effectively, but all the posts seem to skip the absolute basics, as I guess most people round these parts know how to use external preamps to some extent. I've had some joy plugging it into the unbalanced inputs, but not into the inserts, which is what really interests me as I'd like to bypass the VF's preamps and just feel the tube in all it's glory. Apologies in advance for my naivety, I'm just afraid of frying something by not knowing what I'm doing and plugging something in where it doesn't belong.
Currently at my disposal I have: 1 guitar cable, 2 "Y" cables, and 1 XLR mic cable
I was hoping someone could tell me in idiot-terms what plugs in where from preamp to insert jack to get this to work? Do I even have the correct leads? My ultimate aim in the near future is to record my semi-acoustic instruments through both my condenser mic (into one channel) and pickup via the tube (into another channel) at the same time, but just using the inserts successfully would be enough for now...
Sorry if this point has been covered before elsewhere, but I couldn't find it if it has!
Thanks In Advance Guys!
Martin
