Hi, I hope someone can help me sort this out, various problems have arose.
1. For awhile I've been experiencing skipping during playback...and hence during recording. It's as if is the file is torn.. it jumps quickly back and forth.. sometimes with short stutters. The problem seems to occur at 'drop out' points. To be safe.. I used to counter this by recording every track from start to finish.. but then the problem still occurs at the end of the track even after recording an extra 10 seconds or so.
I had enough of this so I backed up all my work with the intention of re- formatting. This all went fine until the very last track which was just a regular mixdown track.. it wouldn't finalize, I guess ? it froze in " saving data" mode.. after waiting..I shut down - restarted, took the disc out.. it played fine but had an extra 98 phantom tracks ?.. no biggy.. got what I wanted.
2. Formatting.
I chose "standard format" for the first time.
Currently it stands at
SETUP R30
Disk Format
Wait Formatting !
IDE Maxtor 2F04
GOOD - 0MB
BAD - 1,178MB
REMAIN - 39,933MB
It hasn't frozen or anything.. it is running, but i initiated this process about 18 hours ago ! At this rate it will take over a week ! Possibly not.. to my mind its finding bad sectors ? They can't all be bad ?
Why so slow ?
Also, now what of these Big Bad MB's ?
Is there an internal function that will correct them ?
Is there an external fix ?
What is the solution ?
