whats the average second hand price of vf 16

hi i bought a vf 16 on e bay without really researching it which was totally ridiculous i know, ive been using a computer for recording for years but wanted something more portable, anyway i paid £180 with postage on e bay and im pretty sure ive been fleeced as i didnt realise how old it was not knowing much about digital recorders, could someone who knows please tell me the damage as im tentativley curious and also tell me how the vf 16 compares to the new stuff, thanks

Hard Drive trouble advice needed

I just pulled my vf-16 out of storage after about 4 years. It has had very limited use. When turned on, the screen flashes "No Disk" "No Drive!". Is this fatal or is there a simple fix?

on my vf 16, when the unit turns on, the lcd doesn't display anything. The backlight does work. I was wondering if it could be a firmware issue, and maybe reflashing the unit would fix the problem. does anyone have any ideas

Can't remember how to add space at beginning of track

It's been a while since I've used the vf160. I'm trying to add a minute of space before the track starts (i'm trying give myself time to make it back to my drumset to record drums to an mp3 rhythm track that i've imported. i copied tracks 1 and 2 (from my import) to 15 and 16 so I can record my drum tracks on channels 1-8...i just can't remember how to move the track back a minute. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I have a VF-160ex, and when I just want to listen to the inputs, I press the "INPUT SEL" button then choose the channels (9 - 16) or (A - H) that I want to listen to.
But the faders aren't working right. If I run something into inputs 13 to 16 they get controlled by fader 9 to 12 ???
If I put something in 9 and 13, then BOTH get controlled by fader 9 ???

I don't know if this is a setting, or if I screwed something up when I had the machine apart.

Hi gang. I haven't been on here in years. I used to have a VF-160 but had to sell it a couple years ago because I needed the money.

I have recently purchased a VF-160ex from ebay. But the first 3 inputs have the dreaded "Peak LED always on" problem, and of course they are dead.

Does anyone know what it costs to have this fixed by Fostex ?

internal drive not recognized

hi, a client brought in his vf-16 w/ stuff on the internal drive he wanted me to transfer.

He said the machine's been working fine. We powered it up and on playback, one
track's audio had a "looping" effect going on... Powered it off, then when re-powering
it up, the internal HD was no longer recognized - no spin, and no usual indicator lights
on the buttons above the faders... just a brief "initial" message, then it sits on the...

I realise that there are no VF16 drives on the approved media list that are over 100GB, but also I have heard from various sources that some might work. Does anyone know the answer to this:

Certain types of (Fostex approved) hard drives need higher VF16 FDMS operating systems on them.

Scenario: I have version 3.10 on my machine and format (say) a 40-60 GB Maxtor drive that needs a FDMS operating sysytem higher than version 1.04 (or even 3.04). I then pass this to a friend of mine who has a VF16 with version 1.00 software on it. When the replacement hard drive is installed, will the second machines FDMS automatically...

Hi, this is an awesome gold mine of info! After wrapping my head around the manual as well as manually looking through the archives, I'm trying to decide the easiest way for me to do what I want.

Basically, I only want to record drums with the VF160, then get the raw tracks onto my puter.

Working With SCENES

Okay - has anybody got some good experience with scenes and scene maps?

I'll be trying them out real soon. My usual double VF setup, so I realize I'll have to have 2 sets of scenes, one in each unit...

I've worked with them a bit: setting the scene, the time it occurs, etc etc...relatively straightforward, tho by no means intuitive...the Map changes the scenes at specific times throughout the song.

One question I have is about the most intelligent...

Rewind button not working.

Sometimes the rewind button will work well for a while and suddenly it will stop working. Now, it has stopped working. I did the button check procedure and when I pressed the rewind button, it didn't register on the display. Does anyone have any idea of how to fix this or how much it will cost? Thanks: Tom

VF 160 Static Noise after Upgrade v2.08

I just installed a new hard drive along with the software v2.08. I was previously running 2.02. Everything seemed to go well except when I tested it by loading in a track to listen to.. there is a static noise on the playback.

Anyone know where this is coming from.. or better.. a solution ?
